Border Patrol arrests alleged Mexican hitman in Indio
An alleged Mexican hitman wanted by Mexican authorities for kidnapping and links to organized crime has been arrested by Border Patrol agents in Indio, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release.
Felipe Perez-Landa was arrested shortly after midnight Monday somewhere off Interstate 10 in Indio. Perez-Landa, described as a ‘sicario’ or hitman for hire in the CBP news release, had previously been deported from the United States.
“The apprehension of this dangerous, wanted criminal is a testament to the importance of the mission of the Border Patrol,” said Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez. “Our country, as well as our Mexican neighbors, will be safer with this person behind bars.”
Perez-Landa has an outstanding warrant out for his arrest in Mexico, but the details of the warrant were not disclosed. He remains in Border Patrol custody pending extradition back to Mexico.
