La Quinta High School students cook up a feast for local heroes

Students of La Quinta High School served up a feast for active-duty military members, veterans, and first responders.

For several years, students from the school's culinary arts program have helped create these meals for the men and women who have and continue to serve our country.

Turkey, stuffing, veggies, homemade bread, and pies were all handed out as a thank you.

"Well when you've got the public service academy as well as the ROTC and the culinary institute students and they're interacting and looking at potential career opportunities as well as an opportunity to say thank you to those who have served and continue to serve our community. It's a great mentoring and a great inspiration," said La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans.

Food service was provided by Desert Sands Unified School District board members and senior staff and table service was provided by the culinary arts students.
