Witness recounts hearing 5 gunshots before 2 men were found dead in medical office

On Friday morning around 9:30 am., Riverside County Sheriff's deputies responded to a medical office near the intersection of Highway 111 and Indian Trail in Rancho Mirage. Answers were limited until two hours later, when RSO confirmed that two men were found dead at the location.

Franco D'Ambrosio was next door to where the incident occurred. At first, he didn't suspect gunfire.

"I thought somebody was playing games with firecrackers," D'Ambrosio said. "I heard the first shot going and we just got alarmed a bit and then I think two more shots went on and I thought, oh this is for real."

He was in the business complex for a doctor's appointment. He believes the sound of gunfire was coming from the adjacent office, and quickly made a decision.

"After like 5 shots, things come down a bit so I didn't look the other way to be honest with you," I didn't look. I didn't see anybody, I just ran out the door...I thought the guy is going to come next door."

A homicide investigation is underway.
