High pressure brings us warmer-than-normal temperatures through the week

Heat continues to build over the West Coast, including in Southern California. This heat results from the high-pressure system taking hold over the region. High pressure leads to sinking air at the surface and can prevent other systems from changing our weather.

While no watches, warnings, or advisories exist for the Coachella Valley, a Heat Advisory has been issued for Riverside County inland valleys and the Inland Empire.

Temperatures will be at least 10° above average every day this work week. Daily highs will start to cool off on Saturday as highs well below average are expected for much of next week. However, winds will pick up starting Friday. Windy conditions are expected for this weekend and early next week.
