History: Palm Desert girls flag football team wins program debut, looking forward to more in future

History has been made at Palm Desert who has a new team this season.

The Aztecs have started a girls flag football program, led by head coach Dani Oswood.

"I am really proud of this group of young women. They are learning to trust each other on the field and will be great ambassadors for the game of flag football," said Oswood. "Everyone is so excited that we got this going."

I wanted to learn more about the sport and be on the team and bond," said Scott. "We want to start this new legacy for flag football for girls."

PD secured a win in their first game, defeating Rosemead 6-0 on Wednesday.

Junior quarterback Isabella Gonzalez hit sophomore Ainsley Risenmay for a 35 yard touchdown, the only score of the game.

"We are all dedicated and work hard. We are all happy and want to win," said Gonzalez.
