Riverside County coronavirus update: 1,751 cases, 50 deaths, 297 recoveries

Riverside County health officials confirmed new coronavirus 132 cases, 9 deaths, and 103 recoveries since yesterday.

The number of cases is now 1,751.

There are now 50 deaths. There was no information released on the deaths, however, Palm Desert saw an increase of two deaths since yesterday.

The number of patients recovered is now 297.

According to county health officials, more than 18,000 patients have been tested at the three county locations. This figure does not include the many other tests coordinated by private physicians and labs.

Riverside County opened its fouth testing site in Perris on Tuesday, April 14. The other three are located in Indio, Riverside, and Lake Elsinore.

Those who want to be tested can call 800-945-6171 and specify which location is preferable.

Riverside has the most cases in the county with 266, followed by Moreno Valley with 168. Riverside also tied Palm Springs with the most deaths in the county (Both are at 8 deaths). Indio continues to have most cases in the Coachella Valley.

  • 0 to 4: 9 cases
  • 5 to 17: 35 cases
  • 18 to 39: 490 cases
  • 40 to 64: 743 cases
  • 65 to 79: 257 cases
  • 80+: 115 cases

Cases by Gender:

  • Female: 838
  • Male: 826

Projections by county health officials released on April 7 show that the county would reach 10,000 cases by April 22. ICU beds are projected to reach capacity by April 14 with all regular beds set to follow suit by April 23.

In order to "flatten the curve" of coronavirus, Riverside County public health officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser ordered everyone to wear a face-covering when leaving home, including essential workers.

Face coverings can be bandanas, scarves, neck gaiters or other clothing that does not have visible holes.

This order runs through April 30.
