Goodbye, triple digits!

Today was the seventh triple-digit day in a row, with the high temperature in Palm Springs reaching 104°. That’s a degree cooler than yesterday. The cool down has begun… slowly. Areas of gusty winds are expected through the start of the week. Stronger winds are expected in the afternoon and evening hours Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures are cooler this afternoon than yesterday but still 16 degrees above normal. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect across the Coachella Valley through 9:00 p.m. Temperatures remain above normal through the weekend but will continue to cool into next week bringing highs in the 90s and then 80s.

Rising temperatures continue through midweek

This afternoon has already surpassed yesterday’s high temperature by several degrees. Palm Springs and Thermal have recorded 106° as each of their highs. An Excessive Heat Warning went into effect at 10:00 a.m. this morning and will remain through the week. This string of dangerous temperatures can increase the risk of heat-related illness.
