Last day to register to vote by mail or online, what you should know

The election is in just 15 days and today is the last day to register to vote by mail or online in California. To check your registration status, go to vote.org. You can register to vote today online or by mail.

If you want to mail in your registration, you need fill out a paper voter registration form. Those forms can be picked up at the county elections office, library, DMV, or U.S. post office. That form must be fill out completely and be postmarked or hand-delivered to the county elections office by today at the latest.

And there is an opportunity for same day voter registration. Eligible citizens who need to register or re-register to vote within 14 days of an election can complete this process to register and vote at their county elections office, polling place, or vote center. Their ballots will be processed and counted once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process.

To qualify for restoration, you must be 18 years or older, at U.S. citizen, a resident of California, not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony, and not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.
