Family friendly activities throughout the Coachella Valley keeping kids cool and safe

With the temperature only getting hotter, families throughout the valley are trying to stay cool.

Families are tasked with keeping the kids busy and entertained, all while staying cool in the dangerous desert heat.

In Cathedral City, families can enjoy shady seating and cool water at the Fountain of Life.

You can also take your kids to enjoy several pools throughout the Coachella Valley.

Desert Recreational District opened a new pool location in Cathedral City High School where they're offering swimming lessons and 'dive in' movies throughout the summer.

Jonathan Michaels, Digital Production Specialist at Desert Recreation District shares, "We're going to be showing movies on the screen and people can come watch the movies inside the pool or next to the pool, and it's going to be a super fun event."

Desert Recreation District is also offering summer camp for the kids.

Aqua Specialist, Kyle Pleming says, "They get dropped off in the morning. They get to attend a free swim lesson, and they also get to swim around the pool for open swim and enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, games and playing in the park."

One parent in Coachella says she enjoys taking her child to Bagdouma Park and Swim Center.

Stephanie Govea says her daughter, "Can have some free time outside and be fresh, you know? She loves to play outside."
