Flames contained in Mecca after 15 outbuildings caught fire

Update: 1:00 P.M.

After receiving a statement from Cal Fire Riverside County Fire Department we originally reported the fire broke out off of 66th Avenue and Hayes Street early Saturday morning. While reviewing the report with Cal Fire it was confirmed that the fire actually happened off 64th Avenue and Hayes Street in Mecca.

An investigation is underway after a fire broke out early Saturday morning in Mecca off 66th Avenue and Hayes Street.

According to Cal Fire Riverside County's Fire Department, 15 outbuildings were burning when fire crews arrived.

We're still waiting to learn just how far that fire spread, but we do know that the fire was contained as of 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

Cal Fire officials say there was no burned vegetation and the fire was terminated shortly after 6 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There are no reported injuries as of now.
