Man shot near school in Coachella, lockdown lifted at Bobby Duke Middle School
According to a CVUSD Spokesperson, a shooting near Bobby Duke Middle School in Coachella forced a brief lockdown at the school.
According to the Sheriff's Department at 2:52 PM, deputies responded to the area of Cairo Avenue and Date Avenue, in Coachella, reference a report of shots heard in the area. As a precautionary measure, Bobby Duke Middle School went on lockdown, however, the incident did not occur on the campus.
When deputies arrived, they found a male adult with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
School officials said the lockdown was lifted at 3:20 p.m. and parents were seen on campus shortly after picking up students. There were no injuries reported on campus.
