JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Authorities say a girl has died, a woman has been rescued and five people are missing after a landslide tore through a southeast Alaska fishing community. A spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers said Tuesday that the girl’s body was recovered soon after the Monday night landslide. The spokesperson said the woman was in good condition receiving medical care and the search continues for the missing. The slide occurred on a mountainside near the community of Wrangell, 155 miles south of the state capital of Juneau. A cadaver-sniffing dog and heat-sensing drones are helping as crews search for the missing in the wide gash of earth churned up by the landslide.
