Multi-vehicle wreck slowing I-10 freeway traffic in Palm Desert and Indio

Freeway traffic was still slow but clearing following a four-car crash that tied up morning commuters on Interstate 10 in Palm Desert and Indio Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol reported a wreck on Interstate 10 westbound in Palm Desert just west of Washington Street at 6:54 a.m.

There was one person reportedly stuck in one of the vehicles involved.

There was no immediate word on injuries but traffic was slow toward Indio's Jefferson Street interchange.

The freeway's number 3 westbound slow lane was blocked by the wreck and emergency response but was reopened by 8:00 a.m.

Eastbound freeway traffic was not impacted.

Avoid the area if you can.
