Overnight crash damages power pole in Palm Springs, prompting road closure

Sunday morning, the Palm Springs Police Department issued a road closure in the area of East Vista Chino between North Cerritos Road and North Sunrise Way.

The closure is only affecting westbound traffic.

The road is being shut down so crews can repair a power pole that was damaged in an overnight crash. Officials say a vehicle slammed into the pole, nearly knocking it over. The department also says the damage caused two blackouts at intersections along East Vista Chino, and are urging drivers to use caution.

Workers with the Edison Electric Company are currently working to get the power line fixed.

Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area for now.
