Norway’s King Harald V transferred to Oslo hospital after getting pacemaker in Malaysia

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — King Harald V has been transferred to an Oslo university hospital with the palace saying he was hospitalized for medical examinations and his health was improving. He had returned to Norway late Sunday after a hospital stay in Malaysia to get a temporary pacemaker. Europe’s oldest reigning monarch had been on vacation in Malaysia with Queen Sonja, reportedly to celebrate his 87th birthday. Harald has had frail health in recent years but has said he has no plans to abdicate. He will be on sick leave for two weeks during which Crown Prince Haakon will assume the monarch’s duties.
