Storm system to bring rain and snow to Southland
Clouds overhead this evening as a low pressure system nears the coast. This same system will bring rain and snow to Southern California as it travels eastward through Saturday.
Rain chances do exist for the Coachella Valley but accumulation looks to be minimal with less than a tenth of an inch expected. Showers will be scattered meaning not everyone will need to put their umbrella to use.
Snow is projected to accumulate above 5,000' with conservative amounts below 6,000'.
The highest snowfall totals will be to the north in the San Bernardino mountains. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight tonight through midnight Saturday for hazardous travel conditions due to snow-covered roads and reduced visibility.
The storm system will clear the region on Sunday with sunshine returning along with a quick warm-up for temperatures across the desert.
