Palm Springs Mayor Bernstein delivers annual State of the City address

Palm Springs Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein shared accomplishments and projects coming to Palm Springs in the 2024 State of the City address.

Several community members attended the presentation.

Bernstein spoke about projects in Palm Springs including an airport expansion and a new College of the Desert campus in Palm Springs.

He said these are just some of the projects on the horizon.

"We have a library master plan, a parks master plan, economic development and zoning code," Bernstein said. "Many different things that we're laying the groundwork for what the future is."

Palm Springs Library Renovation

An upgrade to the Palm Springs Library for the first time in 50 years.

Master Park Plan

Transforming parks where playgrounds will include more shade, accessibility options and adding walking path.

Palm Springs International Airport

An airport expansion plan set to include over 30 gates, more local restaurant and retail stores, new customs facility and new routes to Washington D.C. and New York City.

Bernstein also outlined his vision for a brighter future, centered around 3 core subjects:

  • Strengthening arts and culture.
  • Diversifying tourism and economy.
  • Enhancing connectivity in the downtown area.

Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce hosted the event on Wednesday at Palm Springs Art Museum’s Annenberg Theatre.

The city stated that for those unable to attend this year’s State of the City, they will be able to watch the broadcast on the City’s YouTube channel and on Palm Springs Community Television.
