Fire breaks out in San Jacinto mountains above Palm Springs

News Channel 3 was tracking breaking news on Friday night.

Fire crews were called out to the San Jacinto mountains above Palm Springs after 6:30 p.m.

Many viewers called into the KESQ newsroom to report the blaze and a News Channel 3 crew was on its way to the scene.

There was no word on what sparked the fire.
