Local organizations supporting active duty members during Labor Day Weekend travels

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) – As Labor Day weekend approaches, many service members stationed at Twentynine Palms are making travel plans to head home. With early morning flights out of Palm Springs International Airport, some are in need of a place to stay overnight before departure.

The USO will remain open for 24 hours on Thursday to accommodate active duty members in their travels. At the USO, people can sleep, eat, and relax ahead of a flight.

And 29-PSP, a local non-profit organization is offering free rides for military personnel. This weekend they will transport more than 100 service members.

To volunteer at the USO, go to volunteers.uso.org or email LBoyd@uso.org. To volunteer with 29-PSP, you can find opportunities at 29-psp.org/volunteer.
