Staying warmer than normal as Pride weekend celebrations draw visitors to Palm Springs

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's toasty for this time of the year for the big crowds coming to Palm Springs this weekend for Greater Palm Springs Pride! The average temperature for this weekend clocks in at a reasonable 82° ... but today, we've been seeing temperatures more than 10° above that value! Similar conditions are expected Sunday, too.

Sunday's Pride Parade is scheduled to step off at 10 a.m. Enjoy temperatures in the 80s before we warm further throughout the day!

It's still staying very dry across our region with dew point temperatures in the 30s. That's helping us warm up, and tomorrow will be no exception. Expect temperatures broadly in the low to mid 90s across the region.

Winds outside of the Coachella Valley are expected to develop overnight and Sunday night. Winds on the valley floor will be predominantly calm, but with so many people traveling in and out of the valley for Pride, it's worth noting some elevated gusts through the Banning Pass, up to about 40 MPH.

After the peak heat passes after Veterans Day (Tuesday), we'll begin to cool off through the middle of the week. Major changes could be coming by Thursday. It's still far out, but we're keeping an eye on a system that could bring windier and wetter weather to Southern California. We'll keep you updated on the timing and the extent of the cooling that's possible with this system as we get closer.
