Jewish Federation of the Desert allocates funds to organizations working to improve lives

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (KESQ) - News Channel 3 continues to report in depth on the food insecurity crisis, which affects one in six valley residents.

Local organizations, including Jewish Federation of the Desert, are doing what they can to meet the growing need.

The Federation has allocated funding to a dozen organizations supporting those in need, including Meals on Wheels, the Mizell Center in Palm Springs, and the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert.

The goal is to provide hot meals to as many people as possible.

Jewish Federation of the Desert CEO Danny Labin says, "One of the central tenants of Judaism, and it really guides us in our work, is this notion of Tikun Olam, which literally means repairing the world. And we see the world, of course, as work that we are trying to impact in very significant ways."

News Channel 3's Peter Daut spoke with Labin about how the Federation is helping organizations that work to provide for the vulnerable populations throughout the valley.
