Warming this weekend with plenty of events across the valley!

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's a busy weekend here in the Coachella Valley. Preparations for the Festival of Lights Parade in Palm Springs are well underway, and we've got a great view from our PMR camera in downtown!

It's been a gorgeous day in the valley today so far. Here's a look at conditions throughout the evening, especially if you're headed to the parade. Bundle up, as we'll be dipping into some cooler temperatures (for our standards!) by the time the parade is underway around 6 o'clock.

We didn't warm quite as much as we thought today, reaching a preliminary high around 73° in Palm Springs today. We're still expecting warmer temperatures tomorrow as our warmup continues, though. If you'll be in La Quinta for Sunday's Iron Man, expect highs in the mid to upper 70s... perfect running weather, if you ask me.

Things are set to heat up significantly over the next few days. High pressure will begin expanding and is set to dominate our weather pattern in the coming days. Starting Tuesday and lingering until next weekend, highs could reach nearly 20° above the seasonal average.

Average temperatures dip into the upper 60s by the middle of the week, right when we're expecting our peak heat. I'm eyeing a few records that could be under threat, including Thursday, when that date's record is 87°. It's feeling a lot less like December and a lot more like spring this week!
