Strong quake rattles desert area; no damage reported as aftershocks continue

A strong earthquake has rattled most of the Coachella Valley. According to the U.S.G.S a 4.9 quake was reported near Indio Hills area just before 6:00 p.m.

We have reports that the quake was felt in Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs and other areas of the city.

We reached out to most of the city emergency services, and all have reported no major damage or injuries here in the valley. There have been at least 4 measurable aftershocks with the largest recorded at 3.4.
