Highs forecasting above the century mark

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) — A ridge of high pressure over Southern California dominates the current weather pattern, contributing to above-seasonal-average temperatures.

Highs today will remain above the century mark, reaching 101 degrees in Thousand Palms.

Coastal communities remain under an extreme heat warning issued by the National Weather Service.

Closer to the valley, a wind advisory issued by the NWS takes effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

Models show temperatures staying above the century mark through the week, with peak temperatures of nearly 104 degrees forecast for the latter half of the week.
