Heat today, tropical rain this weekend

The Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday. Highs today will span the lower 100s again.

High pressure continues to dominate the forecast, but a developing area of low pressure off the coast, coupled with the remnants of Hurricane Rachel, will bring cooler temps, wind and rain this weekend.

The Extreme Heat Warning is in place for the Coachella Valley through tomorrow evening.

Tropical moisture moves in this weekend, with the best chance of rain Sunday morning into early afternoon. Some of this rain could be heavy at times along with embedded thunderstorms.

Rainfall totals could be significant, up to 0.75" by Sunday evening here in the Valley.

This will be accompanied by gusty winds and cooler temps into next week.
