Rachel drenches valley; Several roads closed or impacted by flood waters

E. Vista Chino between Clubhouse View Drive and Carmela Drive and N. Gene Autry between E Via Escuela and Salvia have been REOPENED through the wash.


PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) — Tropical Storm Rachel swept into the valley overnight bringing heavy rain at time all across the valley. Currently, many roads throughout the valley are flooded, and drivers should use caution when traveling Sunday morning. Here is a list of known closures at this time:

PALM SPRINGS:
1: N Indian Canyon between Garnet & Sunrise Parkway through the WASH

CATHEDRAL CITY:
1: Dinah Shore Drive westbound from Date Palm Drive to Cathedral Canyon Drive CLOSED
2: Ramon Road between Avenida Juarez and Ximino Avenue: standing water in both directions
3: Ramon Road at Date Palm Drive: standing water, barricades in place
4: Vista Chino at Horizon Road: standing water, barricades in place
5: Vista Chino from Desert Princess Drive to Landau Boulevard: lane impacts in both directions
6: Landau Boulevard from Vista Chino to Ramon Road: No. 2 lane impacted

DESERT HOT SPRINGS:
All roads in Desert Hot Springs are OPEN!
( Drivers are reminded to use caution, as standing water and debris remain on some roadways. Crews are actively working to clear affected areas.)

INDIO:
According to City several roads are closed due to flooding or unsafe conditions. Never drive around barricades or attempt to cross a flooded roadway

OTHER EAST VALLEY:
1: Jefferson and Fred Waring Closed
2: Ave 50 east of Washington is closed

Flooded Roads and trouble areas
1: Highway 111 at Monroe Eastward (Flooded)
2: Fred Waring Dr. at Monroe (Flooded)
3: Ave 48 west of Monroe was flooded
