Bracing for the Thanksgiving storm

Rain has already arrived in parts of the west valley, creating a very soggy drive for those heading through the valley.

The brunt of the storm bringing with it enough rain to inundate roads. Driving conditions even worsening for those to the west.

Just after 2, a drain collapsed on Interstate 10 near 6th street in Redlands. The incident caused roadway damage.The damage forced the closure of 2 out of 4 lanes on the eastbound side as Caltrans worked on repairs.

Back here in the desert, downtown Palm Springs getting its fair share of the rain. The heavy downpour forced drivers to slow down near Highway 111 and Arenas Road. Lulu's California Bistro, a restaurant, sits nearby.

"Believe it or not we will have diners that do want to sit out there and if they do want to be out there, we'll accommodate them," Gabe Terrado, general manager of Lulu's.

Terrado says if worse comes to worse, the restaurant will have to close the patio if the sidewalk floods.

"If you'd like to come down don't let the rain stop you," Terrado said.

The rain may not be affecting the restaurant too much, but one other downtown business saw the exact opposite.

"For business, it's not a good thing for sure," said Benjamin Perdereau, owner of a clothing store nearby.

Perdereau says despite today, business has been good. Either way, he welcomes the storm.

"But we're happy to see the rain in the desert sometimes," Perdereau said.
