CVWD and County providing clean water to Oasis Mobile Home Park for 60 days

The Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) will be providing clean water to residents at Oasis Mobile Home Park for the next 60 days in partnership with the County of Riverside.

The EPA issued an emergency order back in August because arsenic levels in the water were reaching 10 times the allowable limit. Park owners were ordered to provide free bottled water to the 1,900 people living there, specifically one gallon per person per day.

However, many families have had difficulties accessing sufficient bottled water to meet their daily needs. Some families living at the park shared with News Channel 3 they are spending hundreds of dollars per week on bottled water for drinking, cleaning and bathing needs.

Because of these conditions, the Coachella Valley Water District and County of Riverside are teaming together to help augment the park’s clean water supply. They’ll be bringing in a water trailer with a 1,000 gallon tank. We’re told it’ll cost the County about $2,500 a week.

The tank will be stationed in front of the park. People will be able to draw water from the tank from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A representative from the District says the water is expected to arrive at the park by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
