Looking ahead to the holiday weekend

youtube placeholder image

A warm Friday in the desert with temperatures peaking at 109° this afternoon. The average for the date is 108°.

While the overall weather forecast is drying, there's still going to be some moisture in our atmosphere on Saturday. We'll see partly cloudy skies and keep the chance of isolated showers and storms over the High Desert through the morning hours.

Humidity will slowly lessen around the Coachella Valley moving through the weekend as a ridge of high pressure is building over the Four Corners region. This weather pattern will also provide warmer temperatures for the holiday weekend.

Looking ahead to Independence Day, drier conditions and high temperatures near 110° are in the forecast for Palm Springs. Stay safe and have fun this holiday weekend!

Thankfully we won't be discussing extremes on this 4th of July like the 122° reached in 1989!
Still, the overall trend in the past 50 years, in Palm Springs, shows a warming of 2.5°.
