Telephone system upgrade scheduled for the city of Indio

The city of Indio will be going through a telephone system upgrade in two phases during the beginning of May. During the scheduled upgrade, non-emergency calls to the Indio Police Department dispatch center will be impacted, officials said in a release.

The first phase takes place on Tuesday, May 5 between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. The second phase of the upgrade will be on Thursday, May 7 between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

911 calls won’t be affected in any way during the upgrade, according to officials.

The Indio Police Department is asking all non-emergency phone calls to be directed to 760-775-3730 during the scheduled upgrade times. Citizens of Indio are asked to restrict all non-essential phone calls during this time.

The phone lines at City Hall, Corporate Yard, the Indio Water Authority, Teen Center and the Senior Center will also be affected during the upgrade.
