One killed in Desert Hot Springs car crash, N. Indian Canyon Dr. closed at Mission Lakes Blvd.
Firefighters responded to the scene of a deadly two-vehicle crash in Desert Hot Springs earlier today.
Cal Fire said one person died at the scene of the collision, which was reported around 7:30 this morning on North Indian Canyon Drive and Mission Lakes Boulevard.
Marc Hernandez Jr., 29, of Desert Hot Springs was driving southbound in the northbound lane of Indian Avenue in a Ford Focus when they collided head on with a 26-year-old, Cathedral City resident also traveling northbound on Indian Avenue in a Dodge Ram pickup.
The driver of the Ram pickup tried to avoid colliding with the other driver, but was unable.
The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
That intersection was closed to traffic.
The cause of the crash has yet to be released by authorities.
Desert Hot Springs Police are overseeing the investigation.
