Multiple quakes rattle southern Imperial County

A series of earthquakes have rumbled through southern Imperial County since late last night. The largest so far has been a 4.8 quake at 11:43 p.m. That was preceded by a 3.3 magnitude quake at 11:35 p.m. Most recently, a 3.4 tumbler hit at 5:12 a.m. Our newsroom received a number of calls about these quakes, and the U.S. Geological Survey shows more than 50 reports form people who felt minor to moderate shaking.
