Disney, YouTube TV resolve programming dispute

VECTEEZY

BURBANK, Calif. (KESQ) - The Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. announced today it has reached a distribution agreement for its television programming to return to YouTube TV, ending a roughly two week blackout of the company's channels on the streaming service.

As a result of the deal, Disney-owned channels were already returning to YouTube TV on Friday -- including ESPN networks, ABC, Freeform, FX and National Geographic channels.

The deal will also give YouTube TV subscribers free access to ESPN's new streaming service, along with a selection of live and on-demand ESPN programming. YouTube TV subscribers will also have access to a Disney+ and Hulu bundle.

"This new agreement reflects our continued commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment and evolving with how audiences choose to watch,'' Disney Entertainment Co-Chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden and ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a joint statement. "It recognizes the tremendous value of Disney's programming and provides YouTube TV subscribers with more flexibility and choice. We are pleased that our networks have been restored in time for fans to enjoy the many great programming options this weekend, including college football."
