By: Elyse Miller

PALM SPRINGS – San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom, was in the valley this weekend.

As part of his town hall meeting tour called, “Conversations on California’s Future.”

Mayor Newsom made a splash throughout California as a strong advocate for gay marriage rights, a fight he won’t give up.

Mayor Newsom says he’ll always stand up for what he believes in.

This persistence and focus on change is seen throughout San Francisco.

The city has the most aggressive recycling program in the nation and it’s the only city on its way to universal health care.

These are just some of the changes he’d like to spread throughout the state.

Newsom says, “Our San Francisco health care, regardless of you ability to pay, regardless if you have a chronic disease, regardless is every insurance company has turned you away and you still have to pay. You now have access to quality health care.”

Throughout the meeting, the crowd applauded Newsom’s ideas and accomplishments, some say he may be the change California needs.
