Palm Desert Man Stabbed Overnight At House Party

Leroy Rosas’ morning began on a bad note.

“This is one of the worst things a parent can hear in the morning,” he said. “You don’t want to wake up to ‘Hey, one of your kids is in the hospital.'”

His son Raymond, 23, was stabbed during a party happening at a friend’s home located on Velardo Dr. His son was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center.

“When he arrived [at the hospital], he was coherent,” Rosas said. “They said to the fact that his insides were hanging out and that he had to immediately go into surgery.”

Investigators say the victim is in serious condition. An unidentified friend of the victim tells News Channel 3 that a “neighbor kid” stabbed Raymond Rosas three times, but he did not explain what led up to it.

Investigators say it happened just after 4:30 a.m. The pre-dawn incident left other neighbors perplexed.

“This doesn’t usually happen. It’s a quiet neighborhood,” said Gilbert Rivas. “It’s a very good neighborhood. We were surprised when we woke up to this.”

Leroy Rosas says his son and the group he was partying with have known each other since second grade, and they all come from good families.

“Raymond didn’t have any enemies or mean friends,” he said. “But, you know, when there’s a party and they’re drinking and they’re young, anything can go wrong.”

No suspects have been arrested.
