PALM DESERT, Calif. - New resources for young undocumented immigrants, often referred to as “Dreamers," are going to be available starting Monday at College of the Desert.

Dreamers are undocumented imigrants who were brought to the United States as children. COD's new Dreamer Resource Center aims to provide them with all of the information they need in one place to successfully transition into college.

We’re told the center will provide academic advising, counseling and student services program referrals in a welcoming environment. The center will also provide California Dream Act application assistance. The California Dream Act allows students interested in attending eligible california colleges, universities and career education programs to apply for state financial aid.

This center here will also help students learn about scholarship resources and host workshops regarding DACA renewal and immigrant rights.

COD will be hosting a celebratory opening ceremony on campus at 1 p.m. Monday featuring speakers and light refreshments.
