RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -

Tuesday, November 5, students from the Palm Springs Unified School District (PSUSD) got to meet with 50 local employers hoping to connect and make a good impression for a future job or internship opportunity.

This year’s “Champions of Excellence” event was hosted at Agua Caliente Resort, Casino and Spa.

"This event is in its fourth year and its grown exponentially," Deanna Keuilian, Director of College and Career Readiness for PSUSD told News Channel 3.

About 100 high school students were given the chance to network with a variety of organizations and mentors in several industries from medical, law enforcement, physical therapy, banks, education and several others.

Bob Kambe, Business Director for AVID Physical Therapy and one of the employers who has attended this event since the very beginning shared how important an event like this is for the employers and their potential future employees. "It's a dynamic group we have here and the fact that this is their future employees and this is their chance to work with their future employees," he said.

Students listened to motivational speaker, Daniel Seddiqui, who is known as the "World's Most Ambitious Job Seeker" and named by USA Today as, "The Most Rejected Person in the World."

We spoke with Natalie Lopez, a Cathedral City High School Senior. She expressed how much she has learned from attending events like this and also told us what she aspires to be. "Probably Superintendent for Palm Springs Unified School District," Lopez said. "I fell in love with Palm Springs Unified School District the moment I got here two years ago and I would love to work for it," she added.
