A woman died after being involved in an early-morning crash in Cathedral City on Monday.

47-year-old Hemet resident Anette Sepulveda died on the scene of the crash, which was reported on Dinah Shore Drive east of Cathedral Canyon Drive.

At around 12:07 a.m., Sepulveda crashed into a concrete structure in the center median of the road. Emergency crews responded to the scene.

Cathedral City Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and treated a male passenger for major injuries. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred. It is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
