One person killed in Whitewater fire

One person was killed in a fire in Whitewater Tuesday morning, according to CAL FIRE.

The wildland fire charred four to five acres and damaged a trailer today before being knocked down, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.

Fourteen fire engines and two bulldozers were sent at 9:12 a.m. to the 12500 block of Cottonwood Road near Mint Drive and had the fire contained by 10:35 a.m.

There was no immediate word on what caused the blaze.
