Drain collapses on I-10 in Redlands, causing roadway damage, closure

A drain collapsed on Interstate 10 eastbound in Redlands, forcing a partial closure of the roadway.

The damage comes as a steady winter storm system slams the Southland.

Caltrans District 8 reported the collapse near 6th street at 2:18 p.m. The damage has forced the closure of 2 of four lanes, and a full closure is reportedly possible if there is further erosion.

Emergency crews are on scene working to make repairs.
