Outlet shoppers brave cold weather and rain for Black Friday

It's Black Friday: millions of Americans are searching for the best deals and bargains including those right here at home.

Lines were out the doors at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets early Friday morning. "It’s been crazy... it’s been freezing cold but great deals and we do it every year," said Shannon Nelson.

Many shoppers were looking to snag the best brand name bargains ahead of the holidays: “We’ve gone to Nike...we’ve gone to the Disney store...to Hurley," she added.

However, some veteran shoppers who visit the outlets every year say the cold and rain kept lines shorter than usual. The shops were noticeably less crowded.

“Our shoppers are very dedicated especially when it comes to the deals and brands. Rain or shine. But come prepared though...dress accordingly,” said Mahasti Islami, marketing director for the outlets.

Stores like Banana Republic and J. Crew they’re doing 60% off storewide. Nike is 30% off today, so a lot of great opportunities to take advantage of those favorite brands," she added.

The shops are open until 10 p.m. Friday night.
