It’s #GivingTuesday: Here’s how to help FIND Food Bank and other local charities

Black Friday and Cyber Monday might be over, but now it’s officially #GivingTuesday: a day to give back to the community and consider donating to your favorite charity.

FIND Food Bank distributes more than 12 million pounds of food annually to an average of 90,000 individuals, including thousands right here in the Coachella Valley. Donating $20 to FIND equals 100 meals that can be provided to those in need.

For #GivingTuesday, the organization is asking for the community’s help. Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Donate money easily HERE online. FIND needs to raise more than $3 million per year to operate.
  2. Donate Food — they can always use peanut butter, canned tuna/chicken, canned fruit/veggies, soup, beans, meals-in-a-can/box, bottled water, and baby food/diapers.
  3. Volunteer with FIND — they need help with everything from sorting donated food to stuffing envelopes. You can learn more HERE.
  4. Volunteer with their partners — you can find a list of FIND’s partner organizations HERE.

And remember, it’s important to verify the organization that you are donating to is not a scam. Here are some websites you can use to get a better understanding of what a charity does and how they use their donations:
