City of Indio tree lighting ceremony
Tree lighting season is in full swing, and tonight, Indio joined in on the holiday fun.
The City of Indio's tree lighting ceremony was held a little after 5 p.m. at 100 Civic Center Mall, right in between the Indio Public Library and City Hall.
"The festivities include the lighting of Indio's iconic "Holiday Tree," an approximately 35-foot Afghan Pine dedicated 12 years ago, festooned with twinkling gold and white," reads the city's news release for the event. "In addition, spectators will be serenaded by carolers from Indio schools, and be treated to community performances, including a preview of Desert Theatrework's upcoming production of "Mary Poppins" from the Indio Performing Art Center."
Holiday treats and hot cocoa will be on tap for attendees. Santa Claus will also be in attendance for all children hoping to snap a photo with ol' Kris Kringle.
