Cathedral City Police Department treats 200 seniors to Christmas Eve breakfast

122419 XMAS BREAK

Cathedral City Police and volunteers served warm meals at the Cathedral City Senior Apartments this Christmas Eve.

"Santa for Seniors" was held at 7 a.m. Officers and volunteers worked for two hours to prepare the meals.

"We have a number of different senior communities here in Cathedral City that they're low income or they live alone in these small apartments. Around the holidays they're by themselves so I thought what better way to fix that than to bring some Christmas cheer directly to them," said Officer Jessica Lamb of the Cathedral City Police Department.

Approximately 200 seniors were treated to a Christmas Eve morning meal featuring numerous biscuits, 240 eggs, 300 sausages. Each resident also received a gift bag.

Shirley Miller, a resident of apartments, believes events like these help build a relationship with officers.

"I think the relationship between the police department and senior citizens sometimes is lacking, but something like this goes a long ways," says Miller.

The breakfast was made possible with the help of "Outdoor Resorts."
