SunLine Transit Agency is starting a new campaign this week: #CoachellaValleyStrong. Valley residents will see two newly-wrapped buses on the roads designed to encourage and thank the community.

“We just want to say thank you to everyone and just be a positive message that’s rolling down the roads of the coachella valley,” said Lauren Skiver, CEO, SunLine Transit Agency.

Each bus has its own unique message designed to thank all kinds of essential workers. “We decided that we needed to do two messages. One for our essential workers...those first responders, our transit team, pharmacy, medical, construction workers, postal,” said Skiver. The second bus is designed to recognize everyone else working hard behind-the-scenes or at home.

SunLine is encouraging the community to get involved by using #CoachellaValleyStrong on social media. People can download and print appreciation signs from SunLine’s website to personalize, color and share.

SunLine employees were up early for the launch of the new campaign by holding their own signs of support. “We want to see everybody’s postings and everybody’s thank yous to our Coachella Valley,” said Vanessa Mora, Deputy Chief Safety Officer, SunLine.

The company’s CEO Lauren Skiver also took a minute to appreciate the transit workers across the valley determined to keep everyone moving and encouraged in these times: “I’m just incredibly proud of the job that they’ve done and the courage they’ve displayed and the dedication they have.”
