Local political groups make final push ahead of the election
As the countdown to election continues, local political parties prepare to make their final push ahead of the November 3rd election.
News Channel 3’s Dani Romero has more on the group’s efforts to get their messages out.
With less than a week to go, Both Republican and Democratic groups alike are doing everything they can to get the last minute vote out.
"Please vote. Please take that ballot and sign it, open it up and close it up," said Elle Kurpiewski, the Political Director of the Democratic Headquarters of the Desert. " Sign it, seal it, send it. and if you need some help, we'll be glad to help. We're now on a full schedule, folks."
Political Director of the Democratic Headquarters of the Desert, Elle Kurpiewski said last minute efforts like phone banking and sending text messages could be the push their party needs.
"We've also been fielding, a lot of phone calls from people, not fully understanding the mail in ballot and where they can go, how to safely and drop off their ballots and things of that nature," said Kurpiewski. "So this is a different ball game as to how campaigns are being run.”
But the East Valley Republican Women have a different approach in keeping the votes red for Donald Trump.
"We're so established here in La Quinta," said Joy Miedecke. "We don't really have to go out and seek people. People know where we are. So our efforts are to just to make sure that everybody comes into this building or that calls has the right information. We're taking ballots and we are delivering them to Riverside."
President of East Valley Republican Women, Joy Miedecke said they are putting their efforts in other ways.
"Our final push is just to give people information. People who have questions about their ballots about who to vote for," said Miedecke. "We're giving them information on who we feel are the good republicans."
As for trump supporters, they are giving it one last push with this parade on Sunday.
"Everybody is in their own vehicle so everyone is taking care of themselves," said Arthur Lambrose, Trump Parade organizer. "People that are on motorcycles are farther than six feet apart but all the precautions and laws are taking place so that we have a safe and good event."
Biden supporters are also not stopping their efforts this close to the election.
"Sunday, there's going to be a caravan. And again, this is an organic movement," said Kurpiewski. "People are just getting together, emailing each other and saying, what if we did this? Then on Monday, there is a honk and drive event. That's going to take place at Dinah Shore and Monterey."
