200 plastic shipping crates catch on fire in Mecca

A commercial complex warehouse has been set ablaze in Mecca with shipping containers burning late this morning around 11:40 a.m.

The structure fire was located off of Lincoln Street and 64th Avenue in Mecca with two fire alerts sent out. Firefighters were on-scene and contained a rapidly burning pile of approximately 200 plastic shipping crates outside with no extension to any buildings.

Smoke was visible from the I-10 freeway. The cause of the fire is not yet confirmed. Firefighters will remain on-scene for several hours for heavy overhaul.
