First Day of School: Students head back to class in the Palm Springs Unified School District Wednesday

Drivers will want to slow down in school zones around the Coachella Valley Wednesday, the first day of the 2023-2024 school year for the Palm Springs Unified School District. 

An estimated 21,600 students are headed back into classrooms, along with teachers and staffers, for the start of the new school year.

News Channel 3 interviewed Interim Superintendent, Dr. Tony Signoret live Wednesday morning during News Channel 3 in the Morning. You can watch the video above and hear his comments.

Drivers are reminded to be mindful of students walking along the streets and sidewalks before and after school around the west valley.

Desert Sands Unified School District students head back to classrooms next Tuesday, August 15, and Coachella Valley Unified School District students head back to class the following Thursday, August 24.
