Riverside County skips 2024 homeless count

Riverside County will not conduct a count of unsheltered homeless individuals this year, following a recent change to a biennial schedule. 

The next count is scheduled for January 2025, in accordance with federal guidelines allowing a two-year interval. 

County spokesperson Brooke Federico, in an email, stated, "The federal government allows for two years between unsheltered homeless counts."

Previously, the county conducted an annual count of unsheltered homeless people, but the pandemic disrupted this routine in 2021. 

On February 1, the County will host a homelessness symposium at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, discussing housing initiatives and progress in addressing homelessness.
