29-year-old man arrested after deadly crash in Palm Springs

South Palm Canyon Drive between Camino Parocela and Sunny Dune was reopened to traffic Monday morning at 5:00 a.m. after being closed Sunday night due to a fatal traffic collision.

KESQ News Channel 3 has learned a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car shortly before 7:00 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said the driver, a 29-year-old man from Grand Terrace, was taken in custody for suspicion of Driving Under Influence.

Palm Springs Police said officers were looking into the fatal accident and that further details would be released after an investigation had been completed by the department's traffic division.

The road remained closed into the morning hours of Monday but was officially reopened to traffic at 5:00 a.m., according to a statement from Palm Springs Police.
